Dental Bridges in Covina, CA

Restore Your Smile. Restore Your Confidence.

Missing a tooth—or several? You’re not alone. Tooth loss happens, but that doesn’t mean you have to live with gaps in your smile. Dental bridges are one of the most effective and long-lasting ways to replace missing teeth and restore your ability to eat, speak, and smile confidently.

At Jeffrey L. Cohen, DDS, we offer both traditional and implant-supported bridges that are custom-made to look and feel just like your natural teeth.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is exactly what it sounds like—it “bridges the gap” where one or more teeth are missing.

It works by anchoring a false tooth (or teeth) between two healthy teeth or dental implants. The replacement teeth, called pontics, are made from strong, natural-looking materials like porcelain or ceramic.

There are two main types of bridges:

  1. Traditional Dental Bridge
    Traditional bridge tooth replacement
  • Anchored to natural teeth on either side of the gap
  • These anchor teeth (called abutment teeth) are usually covered with dental crowns
  • Works best when the teeth next to the gap are healthy and strong
  1. Implant-Supported Bridge
    • Implant-supported bridge Covina
  • Anchored to dental implants instead of natural teeth
  • A great option if several teeth in a row are missing
  • No need to reshape or crown nearby teeth
  • Extra secure and long-lasting

Dr. Cohen will help you choose the best option based on your oral health, budget, and lifestyle.

Why Replace Missing Teeth?

When a tooth goes missing, more than just your appearance is affected. Your teeth work together like a team, and when one is lost, the others start shifting around to fill the space.

If missing teeth are left untreated, it can lead to:

  • Difficulty chewing or eating certain foods
  • Speech problems
  • Bone loss in the jaw
  • Crooked teeth or bite changes
  • Facial sagging or “sunken” cheeks
  • More wear and tear on your remaining teeth

A dental bridge helps prevent all of that, while also giving you back your complete, confident smile.

What Is the Process Like?

The process depends on the type of bridge you're getting, but here’s a general idea:

For a Traditional Bridge:

  1. Dr. Cohen will gently prepare the teeth next to the gap (these will support the bridge).
  2. He’ll take an impression to design your custom bridge.
  3. You’ll get a temporary bridge while your permanent one is being made.
  4. Once ready, your permanent bridge will be bonded in place.

For an Implant-Supported Bridge:

  1. Small titanium posts (implants) are placed in the jawbone.
  2. After healing, the bridge is attached to the implants.
  3. No damage is done to neighboring teeth—and the result is incredibly strong and secure.

Both options result in a bridge that looks, feels, and functions like real teeth.
